Fitness Model Interview:Christina Lindley |
| Interview Questions: 1. What is your background? How did you get started in the fitness industry? I have always been into modeling ever since I was a little girl. I got started in the fitness industry after becoming a certified trainer and really getting into working out. I loved modeling and fitness, so I decided to combine the two and attempt to make it my career (which has worked out pretty well so far).
Hmmm.....Either being a Muscular Development cover girl, or recently having been sponsored by bodybuilding.com to be a writer for the site.
Yes, fitness modeling is my full time job.
My first immediate goal is to secure a sponsorship contract with a good supplement company to be their spokesmodel. My long term goals are to reach as many people through fitness as I can, and ultimately attain a level of notoriety like someone I admire a lot, Amy Fadhli.
If I'm not working on a set or doing a photo shoot, a typical day for me would go something like this. Wakeup, do cardio on an empty stomach, eat. Answer email, mail off any memorabilia, etc, work on articles, Play with my dogs. Tan, train with weights at the gym, eat (lots of eating small meals). Then maybe if I have time catching a movie with some friends.
I eat 3 solid small meals, and two – three protein shakes a day. The solid meals consist of a lean protein, and some kind of carbs (like yams, broccoli, brown rice, etc.). I usually have one “cheat meal” a week, unless I am training for a particular photo shoot and need to drop weight, then I don't cheat at all.
I train with weights four times a week, and try to do cardio every morning for around 45-60 minutes.
I usually take a fat burner of some kind, a multi vitamin, and I also use Whey Protein by Optimum Nutrition in Chocolate.
Well, one of my main motivators is making money. It is my job to be in shape, it is what I get paid for so that helps. On top of money, the thing that inspires me the most is letters from my fans. I have tons of awesome, beautiful women and men that write me letters of encouragement and it is so inspiring.
Well, I am a little biased, but I like my site: Some other sites I love are: http://bodybuilding.com
I would say to do your research. Decide what you want personally out of the fitness industry, and why. Write down your goals. Contact the people whose names you know from magazines (like well-known photographers). Get some good pictures, and build a great resume. The most important tip I can give anyone is to be yourself, and respect others. Kindness will get you far in any aspect of life.
I would say to do cardio for 30-60 minutes first thing in the morning on an empty stomach 4-6 times a week. Train with weights, and eat 4-6 small meals a day. Cut out fast food completely if you are trying to drop it fast.
Just the fact that I'm me. Every individual (in any field) or on earth for that matter, is completely different. I do like to think that I have a reputation of professionalism, ambition, and desire to help people that precedes me so to speak.
Look for me in the February issue of American Curves. Please feel free to check out my website, christinalindley.net! Also, email me any questions you may have regarding health, fitness, beauty or sex tips, for my “Ask A Fitness Model Column” on bodybuilding.com. You can just use the form at the bottom of the page here: http://bodybuilding.com/fun/christina3.htm Don't forget that if you are going to the Arnold Classic I’d love to meet you. I’ll be at the bodybuilding.com booth. Thanks!
