Fitness Model Interview:

Elaine Seth

Interview Questions:

1. What is your background? How did you get started in the fitness industry?

I have a background in fitness promotions as well as print work. The first fitness model promotion I worked was for Stairmaster at IHRSA.

2. What do you feel is your biggest fitness-related accomplishment?

Placing in the top 10 at the WTF 2000.

3. Is fitness modeling/competition your full-time job? If not, what else do you do?

I am an NSCA certified Personal Trainer.

4. What are your immediate and long-term goals?

My immediate goals are to give a strong showing at my competitions this season.

Long term, I hope to leave a positive lasting impression on the fitness industry.

5. Please describe a typical day for you. What is your daily routine like?

My typical day begins at 4:45 am. I train my first client at 6 am, and train either in the middle of the day or in the evening.

6. Please describe your normal diet. How do you eat to stay in shape?

My normal diet is high to moderate protein, low carbs and fat. To stay in shape, I eat small meals frequently throughout the day.

7. What is your training routine like?

Monday is an off day.

Tuesday: I train at the Marine/Navy reserve base in Miami for the obstacle course.

Wednesday: circuit training and cardio.

Thursday: Sprints. Cardio in the morning and evening.

Friday: weight training for the upper body as well as cardio in the morning and evening.

Saturday: boot camp focusing on speed, anaerobic conditioning and plyometrics.

Sunday: cardio in the morning and evening.

8. What supplements, if any, do you use?

I use protein powder as well as glutamine and a multivitamin.

9. How do you motivate yourself to get/stay in shape?

Knowing that I am not my personal best and regardless of my progress, there is always room for continuous improvement.

10. What are a few of your favorite fitness and health-related web sites?

11. What tips would you give to someone who wanted to get into the fitness modeling (or fitness competition) industry?

Do your homework! Ask questions and know what you are getting into as well as what is expected from you. Know who you are working with. Never take a photo that you are not comfortable having the entire world view.

12. If someone you knew asked you how to lose weight and get into shape quickly, what would you tell them?

I would encourage them to moderate. A quick fix usually does not last and usually ends in the rebound effect. Slow and steady is the pace!

13. What do you feel differentiates you from other people in your field?

Many competitors segregate themselves according to the federation that they compete in. I feel that we are all athletes and work very hard to attain our goals. We should all support and encourage each other, regardless of what federation we are actively participating in.

14. Is there anything else you'd like to say?

I would like to say that regardless of where you have been or what you have been through, never stop believing in yourself or your dreams! Even on your worst day, there is someone somewhere that thinks the world of you and wishes you the best!
