Fitness Model Interview:Jennifer

The Interview: 1. What's your background? How did you get started in the fitness industry? I started doing bikini contests to get my stage presence down. Then I decided to prepare for a figure competition. I won my first show (Designer Body, Hawaii) and also my second. I got to shoot with Rob Sims who then got me published for my first time in MuscleMag. Then I moved out to Cali to compete for the NPC in figure.
Getting Nationally qualified to compete in figure!
Nope, I'm also a personal trainer at Gold's Gym. I also maintain my own website at www.jenniferchamberlin.com
My immediate goal is to put on some more muscle and prepare to hit the Nationals stage in 2003. My long-term goal is to get qualified to go to the Arnold Classic in Ohio and compete for my pro-card!
I go to work at Gold's and train my clients throughout the day. When I get a break in-between I get my own weight training and cardio in. I make sure I get all my meals in and adequate sleep.
I find the best way for me is to follow my regular plan of high protein and low carbs, moderate fats.
For cardio I like the stairmaster and elliptical machines best. I do at least 45 minutes 5x a week. I split up my bodyparts when weight training and train 6x a week.
I use Twin Lab products, they are the best! Diet Fuel and Whey protein.
I like to listen to my cd player while doing my cardio, time seems to fly by quicker that way. I zone out to the music. I think the best motivator is when you see what training can do as far as the way it changes how your body looks. When I start to cut-up it's the biggest motivator ever!
I like bodybuilding.com and emusclemag.com
I'd tell them to get out and compete. Start out with small shows and work your way up. You never know who's going to be in that audience watching you. There're scouts everywhere and photographers that can "discover" you. The industry is always looking for fresh faces.
What you choose to eat counts for about 85% of getting the weight off. Talk with a nutritionist or read up on how to eat "clean." Most people think they're eating good, but aren't. Be consistent with cardio, it helps immensely! Hit the weights to shape and tone up.
The only thing that I can really think of is my competition record in only a year and a half: Five firsts and one second.
