Fitness Model Interview:Nikki Warner |
| Interview Questions: 1. What is your background? How did you get started in the fitness industry? I was a skinny 90 lbs. runner my Sophomore year in H.S. I hated looking that way and desperately wanted to have some womanly curves. One advantage to being thin was the less I weighed the better runner I was. My brother, Brad, who is a good amateur bodybuilder persuaded me to start weight training. Within one month I had joined my local YMCA and I was hooked from then on out.
When I was offered a Twinlab supplement contract in March 2003. This was absolutely unreal for me considering they had been one of my favorite supplement companies from the very beginning. It is very nice to represent a well-known good quality supplement business!
No, even though I wouldn't mind it! I currently work a full-time job along with finishing up my studies at Ball State University. I do have a bachelor degree in Dietetics and plan to use my degree to the fullest once I have complete practicum hours, etc. My other income comes from my member’s part of my web site. I also sell pictures and offer nutritional services for a small fee.
I would like to become a professional figure competitor. After turning pro. I would like to continue doing guest appearances along with some modeling work for magazines, etc. This will also help me out with my future career as a dietitian. In the future, I would like to open up my own nutrition counseling and supplement business.
I'm off to school for a few hours, three days a week. On the other days, I work around 30-35 hours/week. Four to five days a week I do my weight training for about one hour and fifteen minutes each session. I do spend a lot of time preparing meals since I eat 5-6 times a day. I also try to spend about 45 minutes online each day answering e-mails. Yes, I read them all! I normally go to bed around midnight except for weekends. I do occasionally go out and have some fun at least a couple of times a month except for when preparing for a show.
I eat a very high protein, moderate carbohydrate and fat diet. I like to use MODERATION a lot rather than deprivation! I do eliminate saturated fats and cholesterol as much as possible. I also consume a lot of vegetables and lean cuts of meat. I rarely consume alcohol and if I do I stick with wine.
Wt. Schedule: Mon: Chest Pre-contest Cardio: Month 1: Cardio 3X week for 30 min.
Twinlab creatine & glutamine; Twinlab pyruvate; alpha-lipoic acid; and ZMA
This isn't really a problem for me since I truly enjoy it to the fullest. Each and every day I look forward to working out. It helps me unwind and relieve stress. The hardest part for me is the pre-contest diet. I love to eat, however, I love to compete even more, therefore, that is what fuels my fire!
**this is my favorite forums! **this is where I purchase all of my supplements from. http://www.fitness-model-advice.com **of course this is one of my favorites…..why else am I completing this interview!!
Be patient and stay consistent! Also, don't give up and be prepared to put a lot of time into gaining exposure for yourself. This will open up the doors to new opportunities!
I would tell them that long-term weight loss results come from making long-term decisions/ changes to their current diets. Results don't come overnight and if they do this normally leads to yo-yo dieting, which makes you blow up to a bigger size than you were before. Once again, moderation is the key - not deprivation!
I'm very educated, creative, dedicated, driven, independent, motivated, warm-hearted, caring, easy-going, and open to new ideas!
