Interview Questions:

1. What's your background? How did you get started in the fitness industry?

I started out doing gymnastics when I was 9 years old. At age 12 I started dancing. At age 15 I started choreographing. I then choreographed a fitness routine for an older friend of mine. Later I decided to choreograph my own fitness routine and compete.

2. What do you feel is your biggest fitness-related accomplishment?

When I got 5th place in the Ms. Fitness National Competition.

3. Is fitness modeling/competition your full-time job? If not, what else do you do?

Fitness competition is not even a job for me. It's a hobby. I've done a little modeling that I didn't get paid for so I really can't call it a job. I own a dance/fitness school in North Hollywood, CA called Shiva's Dance & Fitness and teach at a dance studio in Quartz Hill called Desert Stars. I also teach for a school called Glendora Primary Center (ages 5-9). And I personal train women out of my house. If you want more information go to my website...www.shivasworld.com.

4. What are your immediate and long-term goals?

I would like to have a televised fitness contest for kids.

5. Please describe a typical day for you. What is your daily routine like?

1. wake up
2. get dressed and ready to take an aerobic class or yoga.

I eat 5 small meals consisting of a balance of fat, protein, & carbs. Each meal is under 300 calories. I drink 120 oz. of water every day. 2 cups of fruit and veggies every day.

7. What is your training routine like?

I do pushups, situps, buttups & doggies. I don't do a whole lot of weights anymore. I hike, tae bo, yoga, cardio barre, or take fitness strength classes.

8. What supplements do you use?

I take a multi vitamin once a day. Flax seed oil & L-Carnatine.

9. How do you motivate yourself to get/stay in shape?

Its just a part of my life. Just like brushing my teeth. I've been active my whole life.

10. What are a few of your favorite fitness and health-related web sites?

Too many to have a favorite.

11. What tips would you give to someone who wanted to get into the fitness modeling (or fitness competition) industry?

Very hard to make it a job. If you want to do it for fun you'll save yourself from a lot of disappointment.

12. If someone you knew asked you how to lose weight and get into shape quickly, what would you tell them?

There is no such thing as instant gratification. If it took you 3 years to put on all that weight then to do it right it will at least take 1/2 that time to take it off. If you do it gradually then most likely you'll keep it off. Drink lots of water!!!

13. What do you feel differentiates you from other people in your field?

I don't take it so seriously.

14. Is there anything else you'd like to say?

If you are a fitness competitor and you need someone to choreograph your routine, need dance instruction, or personal training then call me at (818) 506-6740 or go to my website... www.shivasworld.com.
